What’s old is new again in the world of Donald Trump nominees! Former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz is withdrawing his nomination from President elect, Donald J. Trump for Attorney General of the United States.
Gaetz, resigned his Congressional seat just days before the Senate was to begin an investigation on charges that Gaetz was allegedly involved with sex trafficking, sex with a minor, and other charges.
Initially the Senate was supposed to publish a report on Gaetz while he was still in Congress but opted not to release it upon notification of Gaetz’s resignation from Congress
It was reported that Gaetz could see where it was going and it would be an uphill battle as some members of the Senate wanted to see the report before hearings that would be held to determine rather the Senate would either reject or confirm his getting the position.
He cited that as being a “distraction” as he was withdrawing his consideration for the position that would slow down the “hearing” process.
This may be considered a “harbinger” of things to come as other Trump nominee’s for his Cabinet have equally dubious reputations which may be difficult for the Senate to confirm.
Gaetz is looking into the possibility of getting his Congressional “House seat” back.
Stay tuned.
