The Washington Commanders started their 2026 season with a heartbreaking loss to the Philadelphia Eagles today 24-22 in Philadelphia.

Both teams were facing formidable defenses form both sides of the ball, but considering how horrible the Commanders defense was last year, their defense has shown significant  improvement.

It wasn’t that Philadelphia was so much better than the Commanders they just they got the breaks they got when needed them.

One thing to consider the pre-season is only 3 games long. It used to be (a long time ago) 6 games to get the kinks out.

So expect teams to look much better by week three to see who they really are.
