Legendary Podcast pioneer, Podcasting Hall Of Fame inductee, and Founder of Blubrry Podcast hosting Todd Cochrane has passed away. He was 61.
Todd started Podcasting in 2004 after being sidelined by an injury while being hospitalized.
His initially foray in New Media was as a Blogger as he self-admitted wasn’t a very good one, but found his way into Podcasting which in it’s nacency.
He became enamored with the medium.
But Podcasting back then in the early 2000’s was not as easy, or as cheap as it is now.
He was given an edict, by his then Wife to make this ” project” profitable..
He went to the microphone and sought help from an Attorney, Web developer and others and the company “Raw Voice” was born.
Raw Voice is the parent company of Bluburry , a Podcast hosting company that offers many other services for New, Independent, and Professional Podcasters.
Todd was a staunch advocate for free speech and thought that the independent Podcaster was the last bastion of symbolism was through the medium.
Mr. Cochrane literally an historian of the medium saw what’s come and gone and wrote one of the first published books on the subject.
He kept Blubrry his Podcastimg on the cutting edge in the marketplace expanding services of the company to include AI, mastering services for audio files and more.
He was a friend to all. We got to know, respect and admire him to the point we opened an account with his company to support him even though we have an account with one of his competitors. Todd kept it real and didn’t mince words sharing his opinion over what was happening in the industry.
Todd passed away on September 8th after returning home from visiting family and friends.
