Portillo’s is a is a restrtaunt chain based out of Chicago. It’s known for what it became,  “Chicago Street Food”

It was opened by Dick Portillo.  In 1963 he opened his first business, a Hot Dog stand in Villa Park, IL. He called it, “The Dog House” and it became synonymous with the city of of Chicago and many believed you had not seen and enjoyed the city without going to Portillos.

The preparation of the food made the taste of the food unique. The motif of the late 40’s to mid 70’s atmosphere added to the uniqueness of the restaurant and dining experience..

It’s known for Chicago style hot dogs (which we love) Italian Beef sandwiches, (which we’ll try next time) Cheese fries, their homemade cakes which taste so rich and sweet to the taste buds and the Chocolate cake shakes are ecstasy to the taste buds at good enough reason to try this great restaurant.

The inside motif spans from images on the wall the late 1940’s to a 1950 automobile hanging down from the ceiling with music playing from the rock and roll era to the mid-1970’s

The company went Public in 2021 and has won various awards and has 60 locations. It has a loyal and growing fan base.
