He’s comin’ back and does he have the last laugh?
Jimmy Kimell, host of late night TV show Jimmy Kimel live show was taken off the air after comments he made after the assassination of Charlie Kirk in his opening monologue.
Essentially he called the out hypocrisy of the MAGA movement, those hard core supporters and loyalists of President Donald Trump who were distancing themselves from Tyler Robinson, accused assassin of Mr Kirk.
Mr Robinson, was once an avowed Republican was believed to have left the party based on what he saw was the direction the party was taking. and Kimel called MAGA out on it.
Republicans and the hard right called the comments disrespectful and complained. and Donald Trump weighted in. Trumps comments drew in FCC Commissioner, Brendon Carr, who statted directly that the companies involved in the ownership of Nextstar, a media company and owner of many TV stations “Need to do something about this”.
Nextstar wants to acquire Tegna, a competitor who also owns many TV stations.
The rub is they both carry the ABC owned Jimmy Kimmel show.
For the merger to happen it requires FCC approval.
Nextstar and other right wing leaning broadcast owners dropped the late night show from their schedules as a form of protest. Many believe Nextstar did this to appease the FCC in the upcoming merger acquisition of Tegna.
Besides the public outrage, and public gloating from President Donald Trump other forces lept into action.
To the long and short of the story, Kimmel returns to the air on Tuesday September 30, 2025.
Many believe this strikes a blow for the defense of “Free speech”.

Todd Cochrane 1964-2025 R.I.P.
Legendary Podcast pioneer, Podcasting Hall Of Fame inductee, and Founder of Blubrry Podcast hosting Todd Cochrane has passed away. He was 61.
Todd started Podcasting in 2004 after being sidelined by an injury while being hospitalized.
His initially foray in New Media was as a Blogger as he self-admitted wasn’t a very good one, but found his way into Podcasting which in it’s nacency.
He became enamored with the medium.
But Podcasting back then in the early 2000’s was not as easy, or as cheap as it is now.
He was given an edict, by his then Wife to make this ” project” profitable..
He went to the microphone and sought help from an Attorney, Web developer and others and the company “Raw Voice” was born.
Raw Voice is the parent company of Bluburry , a Podcast hosting company that offers many other services for New, Independent, and Professional Podcasters.
Todd was a staunch advocate for free speech and thought that the independent Podcaster was the last bastion of symbolism was through the medium.
Mr. Cochrane literally an historian of the medium saw what’s come and gone and wrote one of the first published books on the subject.
He kept Blubrry his Podcastimg on the cutting edge in the marketplace expanding services of the company to include AI, mastering services for audio files and more.
He was a friend to all. We got to know, respect and admire him to the point we opened an account with his company to support him even though we have an account with one of his competitors. Todd kept it real and didn’t mince words sharing his opinion over what was happening in the industry.
Todd passed away on September 8th after returning home from visiting family and friends.
Rest in Power Todd. Thanks for your contributions to this industry. Mr.Cochrane.
